Kurri Kurri Town Entry Mural

Peter Sesselmann

Kurri Kurri Town Entry Mural by Peter Sesselmann | Street Art NSW

A number of important cultural and economic aspects of the history of Kurri Kurri are included in this, our first free standing mural - from our Aboriginal past, the development of coal mining, employment in aluminium smelting and textiles production to our current tourism attractions of the Murals Project and the annual Kurri Kurri Nostalgia Festival.

Over a year in the making, it is one of the most ambitious murals, and was constructed to welcome visitors entering Kurri Kurri from the Hunter Expressway, which greatly improved access to the town. The work was opened by the State Member for Cessnock, Clayton Barr, MP on Monday 7 September 2015.
