Coloured in the blue and aquas of the Gumbramorra Swamp, this 80-metre artwork forms the background of the length of the Sydenham Bus Layover with a varied texture of ripples and contours.
On Gadigal and Wangal Country, this mural grounds us in the hidden landscape of the former Gumbramorra Swamp. Beneath the concrete and canals lies a living wetland, once rich with shellfish, crabs, birds and plants—and thousands of years of care for Country. Through macro contours and micro ripples, our splatter technique evokes ancient markings and ancestral presence. Artifacts uncovered during the excavation float between past and present, inviting you to look deeper, to listen to what lies beneath the surface. This is a place of continuity, memory and connection.
We invite the viewer to walk along the mural and experience the animation movement of water and country.
