The Hermit Crab

Kristopher Ho

The Hermit Crab by Kristopher Ho | Street Art NSW

A commission for Brecht's Circle featuring the white outlines of a hermit crab overlayed over a wolf's head from above. Elements of the crab have been replaced with hands holding one another, and the vessels of a heart with lotus flowers growing from them. The artwork references the space of the bar as a safe haven for silence or solitude.

Brecht's is a place where people in the city seek refuge, a place where they can just hide for a while, away from everything they don’t want to face, even just a while, as if we were all hermit crabs, hiding within our shells. Sometimes running away for a while is necessary.
