Bush Tukka

Thomas Jackson

Bush Tukka by Thomas Jackson | Street Art NSW

This artwork celebrates the local flora and fauna of Sydney's Inner West. Here, the Eastern Spinebills are depicted eyeing some local native berries. These berries were a food staple for the local Indigenous civilisation prior to the arrival of Europeans. The Eastern Spinebill however, is most often seen hovering like a hummingbird, feeding on nectar from a wide array of flowers, including grevilleas, its curved beak particularly suited to extract nectar from tubular shaped flowers.
