A vibrant artwork along the New Lambton Library, where the artwork and elements are based on community input, primarily for imagery that can be seen walking around the suburb. A black cockatoo looks toward all the colourful points of reference, while instilling hope to the community.
Through community consultation I tried to capture the identity and buzzing nature of the suburb, using imagery spotted from the footpath in New Lambton such as the butterflies and the floral arrangements from neighbouring gardens, gum tree patterns, and some floral design from the suburbs architecture (door frames, metal gates). I wanted to create a background that embodies the displaying variety in the library, bringing a collage of points of information. The black cockatoo often seen in the surrounding mountains, is personified and watches in joy at its abundance.
