Tasmanian Red Handfish

Endemic to Tasmania's eastern coast, the Red Handfish is so named because it uses its fins as hands to 'walk' across the seafloor. First discovered in the 1800s, there are less than 1,000 in the wild now due to pollution, pet trade and overfishing. This artwork seeks to highlight and raise awareness of this unique fish and hopefully urge viewers to learn about and protect this rare species.
