Living and Learning in Canley Vale Public School

This mural design features animals from different countries and symbolises the multicultural nature of Canley Vale Public School, which the artist painted over 8 days and nicknamed the Canley Vale crew.

The Water Buffalo represents our Vietnamese students as this is the country's native fauna. The Khmer national animal is similar to the buffalo. The Water Buffalo and Koala have their arms over each other's shoulder signifying acceptance and harmony. The soccer and rugby ball characterises healthy living and the fun of participating in sports. The Lion represents students with Arabic heritage and expresses strength. The Unicorn eating an ice-cream exemplifies the joy and wonder of being youthful.

The Panda wearing a traditional Chinese hat represents students with Chinese heritage. It is playing a flute and this epitomises the joy one receives from playing music. The Turtle represents students with Pacific Island heritage. It embodies creativity and imagination in art. The Giraffe represents students with African heritage, personifying grace and individuality. The Frog with the big pencil represents engagement with learning. The animals wearing sunglasses adds an element of fun and playfulness.

Wave lines running through the design depicts the local Orphan School Creek and the rainbow expresses acceptance in a multicultural society.
