The Fish

The Fish by Malcolm King | Street Art NSW

A depiction of George Finey's 1938 depiction of 'The Fish' and 'The Chips', two trains which were used for commuting by Blue Mountains residents. The artwork is painted on a bus stop along Macquarie Road funded by the Community Arts Board of the Australia Council. The artwork was initially painted in 1984 and refurbished in 2001.

...old timers say in 1883 the engineman's name was John Heron nicknamed "Herring", the fireman "Salmon" and the guards "Pyke" and "Trout". Some think this is a Fishy story but George Finey's cartoon of 1938 suggests that there must be something in the old legend after all.
