Fade Out

George Rose

Fade Out by George Rose | Street Art NSW

Painted at the Bentley Park College as part of an artist-in-residence program, the artwork features two fish with a textured background vanishing into pink nothingness.

The Humpback Grouper, the Brindle Bass, and the Whiptail stingray are all listed as threatened and endangered on the IUCN world conservation red list, these species are at the risk of overfishing and changing habitats due to global warming changing their reef environments. The mural depicts the Humpback Grouper and the Brindle Bass facing each other as if each was watching the other passing into obscurity. The background pattern is created using the patterning detail from a Whiptail stingray. The details on each fish slowly fade into a solid colour leaving only the silhouetted shape of the fish which once was.
