A footbridge above Leighton Road containing several Olympic Games motifs, including each stair representing one instance since 1896.
Beijing's successful bid to host the 2008 Olympic Games has brought jubilation to the people. Concomitantly, Wan Chai District Office, in support of Wan Chai District Council's "Hygienic, Healthy and Dynamic City" Project, planned to renovate this footbridge. A unique design to beautify the bridge with Olympic Games as the theme was proposed by St. Paul's Convent School. With the concerted efforts of all parties concerned, the Olympic Bridge has become a reality.
Our special thanks go to the students and staff of St. Paul's Convent School, various community sectors, and government departments for their support and assistance. We hope that pedestrians will relive the long history of Olympic Games, embrace the lofty Olympic spirit of pursuing "Faster, Higher, Stronger" goals, and support the development of local sports.
